Mindful Mother’s day – The Best Self-Care kit for your mom

Before starting with Mindful Mother’s day ideas for 2020, let me take you back to the same day of last year i-e 2019, ‘Mother’s day’ when I was so super desperate to find a perfect gift for my mom. I traveled across the entire city ( those days when we were actually allowed to roam and have fun) to grab something special for mother’s day.

I just feel so overwhelming seeing so many useful gift articles that I was unable to decide what to actually buy for her.

In the end, I brought her the flowers she adores and thought of asking her what she actually needed as a gift as that would spare me from the guilt of buying something she never wished to have.

I know, she would have accepted anything I give but I wanted the Mother’s day present of her choice.

So when I finally went to ask her about the gift, I was literally shocked by her response. She asked for nothing and rather said that she would love ‘A FREE DAY’ as mother’s day gift.

That was the exact moment when I realized how essential it becomes to have a ‘Mental Health day’ for mothers who never actually takes any break from the chaos of life.

Hence, I decided to write a detailed blogpost on celebrating mindful mother’s day this year and gift her exactly what she deserves.

Being in quarantine due to these uncertain times has made everyone’s life difficult especially of mothers and having a mental health day would be exactly something she would be secretly wishing for.

This year, I am going to gift her the present that will nourish her mental wellness bringing peace and calm.

Mindful Gifts for Mother’s Day 2020

Our moms deserve the best and I am going to list down all my favorite gift ideas that you can especially implement during this time of pandemic and yet make it a super special one.

Here are some invaluable mental health care or self-care gifts for the most amazing woman in your life.

1. Homemade gratitude jar

How about having a cute little jar for your mother with all the lovely notes of thankfulness! My mom especially loves it whenever I make her a thank-you card on Thanksgiving or any other festival.

midful mother's dayBesides, handmade gifts have such an immense touch of love and belongingness. In the jar, maybe you can list everything that you love about your mom in cute, little notes and make her pick up one daily.

Here are some of my favorites if you are running out of time and need some quick affordable options.

2. Have an indoor SPA day

Gift your mom a spa day at home with a special handmade coupon and a lovely note. You can arrange everything that is needed for SPA at your home or just decorate the bathtub with the galaxy bubble along with some candles and the books that she always wanted to read but didn’t get time to.

This will relax her besides making her jump out of happiness. Here are some of my favorite spa products.

3. Help her organize her life with Simple Planner

Raise your hands if the planner saved your messy life and made you super productive. There are hundreds of new tasks to keep track of every day in mom’s life, how about gifting her some amazing planners to make her life super simple, easy peasy.

Note that these are my all-time favorite planners and they have so much of value with all the ebooks, checklists, courses, and what not!

This amazing productivity bundle totally saved my mom’s life by helping her to keep track of her daily tasks.

This Ultimate Homemaking bundle is a dream bundle for all the moms out there. You get courses, books, printables, membership at such affordable rates. It indeed is hard to skip this!

4. Help her with home gardening

Who doesn’t love having plant babies at home? Like every mom loves having a small cute corner of her home dedicated especially to her green babies and this mother’s day is a great opportunity for you to help your mom set up her dream garden and let her cherish her evening coffee amidst the greenery. This one is indeed such a thoughtful and mindful mother’s day gift plan.

Creating a home garden is not at all tedious when you have this super bundle with you for all your doubts.

5. Gift her the Art of Journaling

I cannot stress enough how journaling helped me during the most difficult period of my life. This art of journaling came to me as a blessing, a miracle and I then thought of giving my mother this mindful creativity on this special day.

mindful mother's dayYour mom has so much going on in her life that you barely know. Having a brain dump with some creative outlet will keep her mental health on track.

Read here my detailed post on Healing through Journaling – A beginner’s guide.

6. You guessed it right – BOOKS

How on the entire earth can someone not love the books? My mom is so fond of books that if you take her to the library, she would probably never return.

I always love this idea of gifting mindful books on special occasions just like mother’s day. If your mom is fond of Audiobooks, get her the annual subscription of audible.

I bet you, it’s so amazing to listen and fall asleep.

Here are some of my favorite mental health books.

7. Candlelight dinner

How about having a candlelight dinner on the terrace with your mom with your home-cooked food? Mothers love it when we cook for them and they actually deserve this break.

Grab her favorite recipe and cook something delicious.

It doesn’t have to be something huge or grand just something from the heart.

8. Spend quality time with her

If by any chance, you are not able to plan out or so something special for your wonderful mom on mother’s day then pick this up and spend quality time with her.

Talk about old memories when you were a child or share some recent updates or just take a quick quiz on how much you know each other.

mindful mother's dayTrust me, your mom needs your undivided attention and your time. Shuffle your old photo albums and I am sure your mother will have so many stories to tell you behind every photograph. Hang out with your mom just as you would do with your friends.

9. Handwritten notes on why you love her

I totally am an old school type and letters are something that I love the most. Actually, who won’t love handwritten letters from their child?

This indeed is such a thoughtful gift at such a low budget. You just have to get a card or can even make one at home.

Find a cute poem and write your feeling on those sheets. She is going to love this idea.

I really hope that you find something useful from the above list and make this mother’s day super special for your mom and yourself too. It is indeed difficult to be a mom and I am so very grateful for all the mothers out there. May this day be the best one ever.

Thank you so much for sharing these ideas! Living far away from my mother to be in grad school is so hard so I used some of your ideas and really thought what would be great for her as a gift. I made an self-care/ always together no matter the distance basket filled with books, notes, and pictures of us! I think she’s going to really love it as this is the most meaningful gift I’ve had, and I know she’s going to cry. Thank you❤️

Wowwwww!!!! So beautiful. I just remembered a few lines.
“Her soul deserves so much love,
    For her being so adorable,
Who plant seeds in every garden she leaves.
Her soul deserves so much calmness,
For her to travel in a hurricane,
Still, she finds a moment to breathe to live.
Her soul deserves so much pureness,
    For her being so soft,
Even while standing on the toughest edge.”

If i could start with, i would like to say is “some people want to be loved, but our mothers just want to give love “. They are the most kindest souls and they deserve everything you have mentioned as the mindful gifts. I, too, will consider the ones you have mentioned for gifting. I am loving all your blogs and always looking forward for more . Thank you for all the ideas and and helping everyone mentally in our society.
